I Have What I Wanted… Why Am I Not Happy?

Many wonder why, despite having a job, a partner, children, a home, a car, and a pet, they still feel unhappy. They followed societal norms, hoping to fill their emptiness. From my view with Plan C Strategies, it’s clear that this approach didn’t work, and now they ask: WHAT DO I DO NOW?

If this sounds familiar, take a moment to breathe and smile. It’s common. The brain, especially the amygdala, detects threats to your safety, pushing you toward community norms. People often shape their lives around these expectations.

Building a fulfilling life can be tough, and even when everything seems in place, happiness may still feel out of reach. This can lead to moments of breakdown, but facing these challenges is where real change begins.

Start by asking yourself:

  • What does happiness mean to me?

  • What thought do I want instead of “I am not happy”?

  • What feeling do I want instead of “I am not happy”?

  • How do I view my unhappiness?

Take a breath, exhale, and smile.
